TÜK Children's Fund x E-Lux Peetri Run
At E-Lux Peetri Run everyone can support the work of the University of Tartu Hospital Children’s Fund; patron Roald Johannson also lends his support. Register for the run—the proceeds of the 5 km charity run go to the Children’s Fund! #FeelLikeAWinner
Five kilometres is the world’s most popular running distance and is within reach for everyone. Modest preparation is no excuse—what matters is good will, a big heart and an open mind. There are musical breaks, dance and exciting moments, cheerful volunteers and other participants all along the course.
The charity run is first and foremost about doing good, but competitive spirits can still watch the clock—times are taken and the best are recognised.
For years the E-Lux Peetri Run charity run, together with patron Roald Johannson, has lent a helping hand to the University of Tartu Hospital Children’s Fund beneficiaries who, despite severe illness, strive to learn to walk with the help of therapy.
Before the run there is an auction that anyone can join: all proceeds go through the Children’s Fund towards 16-year-old Ralf’s therapy. Ralf is fighting a severe and rare disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy; with donors’ help he receives costly treatment and attends physiotherapy diligently. Let’s help Ralf keep up his therapy together!
A big and heartfelt thank you to Samsung and E-Lux for the wonderful products donated to the auction!
The auction winner will be announced on the main stage on June 7 at 15:45.
Ralf is a brave 16-year-old who is fighting a rare and severe muscle disease: Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It is a genetic condition in which muscles grow weaker over time because the body does not produce the protein muscles need (dystrophin). That means movement becomes harder step by step—first running and climbing stairs, later standing and walking.
The costly medicine Ralf receives with the Children’s Fund and donors has slowed the disease’s rapid progression, but to regain strength the illness has already taken, Ralf works hard: his goal and greatest wish is to grow stronger and thus more independent. He trains a lot and goes to physiotherapy often—so that each day he can stand a little longer and walk a little more, with an assistant supporting only one arm instead of both.
Ralf will not let a harsh disease chain him to a wheelchair for good; he moves toward his dreams in small but important steps.
